The Living Analytics Research Centre (LARC) is a research centre set up in Singapore Management University (SMU) with Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) as our strategic partner.
LARC conducts research on urban and social sensing, social-physical analytics and social activation that enable a society to become (i) personalized, for improving people’s lifestyle and well-being, and (ii) participatory, for getting people to perform tasks for public good.
LARC has its research projects covering four important application domains, namely:
a) Urban and Community Livability,
b) Jobs and Skills Intelligence,
c) Personalised Urban Mobility, and
d) Smart Consumption and Healthy Lifestyle

We have vacancy for the following positions:-
- Research Engineer (Crowdsourcing)
- Research Fellow (Crowdsourcing)
- Research Engineer (Urban Computing, Human Computer Interaction, and Visualisation)

c) Personalised Urban Mobility
Research Engineer (Crowdsourcing)
The candidate will work in the area of Crowdsourcing which aims to improve productivity and develop technologies to harness behavior insights.
The candidate will be working on key initiatives and projects with internal or external partners. He will be required to gather requirements from project partners through discussions and correspondence. He will develop, design and implement research prototypes and test-bed systems to achieve project requirements and targets. The candidate is also required to showcase the centre’s analytics capabilities at events and assist other researchers to collect and extract relevant data for research purposes.
Requirements
* Bachelor/Master Degree in Computer Science or relevant disciplines
* Good knowledge of Databases, Data Mining, Distributed Computing, Operating Systems
* Proficient in at least one or more of these programming languages: Java, Python, C#, C++, C
* Prior experience in mobile sensing, trajectory planning and human behavioral analytics is an added advantage
* Self-motivated and able to carry out tasks independently
* Excellent team player and possess strong inter-personal skills




c) Personalised Urban Mobility

Research Fellow
(Crowdsourcing)
The candidate will work in the area of Crowdsourcing which aims to improve productivity and develop technologies to harness behavior insights.
The Research Fellow will work with faculty researchers on research topics in the urban/social computing, smart cities and consumer business domains, namely Data and Text Mining, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Crowdsourcing, Recommender Systems, Social-Urban Sensing and Big Data Infrastructure.
The candidate is required to design research methodologies and develop algorithms and models. He will also be required to design and conduct experiments, and implement applications, tools and systems. The candidate will also assist to develop analytics capabilities in big data infrastructure and conduct data science studies.

Requirements
* PhD in Computer Science or related disciplines
* Good knowledge in relevant research topics and possess related research skills
* Proficient in at least one or more of these programming languages: Java, Python, C#, C++ and C
* Prior experience in mobile sensing, trajectory planning and human behavioral analytics is an added advantage
* Self-motivated and able to carry out tasks independently
* Excellent team player and possess strong inter-personal skills
* Analytical and meticulous with attention to details
